Cooking to Combat Covid-19 Kickstart Plan is a special series of Food for Life* classes to be held online to empower individuals on ways to lose unwanted pounds, improve chronic disease(s), boost immunity, and regain health through a plant-based diet.
Cooking to Combat Covid-19 Kickstart Plan is a whole food-plant-based nutritional plan that easily enables permanent weight loss. Along with weight loss comes major improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and other aspects of health.

Week `1 – Power of Your Plate
Tuesday, August 4 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
The Power of Your Plate, the first class in Kickstart series will focus on getting ready to start a low-fat, plant-based diet. Don’t be overwhelmed. You will have a week for preparation, planning and organizing before jumping into a healthy eating plan that includes no calorie restrictions or no calorie counting. Get ready to enjoy great low-fat, plant-based nutrition and improved health.
Week 2 – Let’s Go
Tuesday, August 11 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
After a week of planning and meal preparation this class provides the tools needed to start a low-fat, plant-based diet. You will be introduced to the 21 Day Kickstart online program to help you through your transition to plant-based nutrition. Share your meal-planning success with other participants and hear how classmates prepped meals for the upcoming week. Learn shopping strategies, healthy snacking and overcoming challenges.
Week 3 – Getting in Gear
Tuesday, August 18 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Embarks on your second week of the Kickstart, and celebrate success! You may be like some who are experiencing increased energy, weight loss, better sleep and less brain fog. Some may be experiencing a “detox” phase that will pass and lead to much better days. We address all concerns and prepare you for another great week of success!
Week 4 – Combating Food Seduction
Tuesday, August 25 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Are sweet and high-fats foods sabotaging your efforts to lose weight? Overcoming food addictions can be easy with the right approach. This class looks at the addictive properties of cheese, chocolate, doughnuts and the like. Learn why these foods, and not broccoli, seem so “sinful” and what we can do to break those cravings. Be prepared for success!
Week 5 – Combating Heart Disease
Tuesday, September 1 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Reducing cholesterol, reversing plaque build-up and improving heart disease are made possible through a whole food, plant-based diet. Learn the health advantages of a whole food, plant-based diet to prevent, halt or reverse heart disease.
Week 6 – Combating Prediabetes or Diabetes
Tuesday, September 8 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
The latest studies on diabetes show that a plant-based diet high in complex carbohydrates and fiber (which is only found in plant foods) and low in fat can help improve blood sugar levels and prevent complications. A low fat, plant-based approach offers a new tool that many have found to be very useful.
Week 7 – Combating High Blood Pressure
Tuesday, September 15 – 5:30pm to 7:30pm
High blood pressure or hypertension is known as the silent killer as there are no signs and symptoms. However, it is “the most important preventable cause of premature death in developed countries.” The good news is that blood pressure changes happen quickly, and plant-based diets will help lower high blood pressure within a short time frame. You, too, can combat high blood pressure for good!
